Please move your mouse in and out of the image to compare the effect of the different Texture Quality (TQ) settings. The first image was made with the (legal) lowest TQ, while the second image use the highest TQ. You see clearly the difference between the spraylogo, the ground, wall and the weapon model. The game simply looks like shit with lowest TQ and the FPS gain is literally zero. (see net_graph) In my eyes the decrease of the over all TQ is not worth the approx 3 or maybe 4 FPS you gain. An ugly side effect is also, that you really can't see much on long distance, because the objects melt with the background. Take for example the windows at B on dust2 - if an AWPer sit there and you come from the CT spawn, you almost don't see if there is a head or not, because the low TQ makes this area too blurry. You can also see at the spraylogo on the screenshot that a part is missing. It's still there, but it is so blurry (even on this very small distance) that it literally vanish into the wall texture.
